You crushed it Joe.... and you honestly inspired me and kept me moving... so thank you! And you had that amazing crew babe!!!! I am sure that kept you going. My headlamp saga continues.......
Happy for you and hope to someday pace and crew for you. Even though I run and love the trails, I find it amazing what you and many others can put your bodies and mind through. some are born to challenge our bodies and some are born to support those who do, I am very much the latter! love you dear friend!
Congratulations! Especially working through on an upset tummy. My friend Martha Wright also finished -- it was her second 100 after finishing Vermont 100 in 2011 while death marching in. She ran a strong 22 hours this time at age 64. Cheers to aging well!
Thanks Sophie! And congrats to your friend!!! Funny that her first and second were the same as mine :) And thank you for being a model for aging well !
Wonderful Ali!! Amazing job battling a difficult start, but you rallied and shined brightly! Especially love the smiles at the end! Bravo on an epic 100!!! Keep inspiring xo
Awesome run Ali, another example of however well you prepare, there’s always a curveball or two to contend with! And more inspiration that we can overcome them!
You continue to inspire me Ali! I read your race report word for word......wondering how your stomach issues played out. Your mental strength - grit and fortitude - came through. Isn't that what these events really boil down to? I cannot believe how long it took - almost near the end of the race - before you felt like eating again. You kept going....taking it one step at a time. Congratulations!
Thanks Jenn! Especially for reading every word...ha! there were alot of them! This sport truly is so much about mental strength. I just wish my body played along a little nicer :)
Your friend Joe *barely* made 50K, even without stomach issues and a 68-mile warmup. You are amazing!
Also: who knew a headlamp needs a safety! 😂
