That was sweet and heartfelt - and a great description of what happened in "the city". As we get older we learn there are some things we may have forgotten, but most of our memories - and the feelings associated with them - stay with us forever. (just don't tell teenagers - let them think we don't know anything!)
Maybe it is a getting "older" thing as we reflect on the past, what might or could have been, but then finding ourselves happy we are where we are. But there is always a part of me who wonders where I'd be sitting if, but I'm sure it would not be as great as here. Hugs friend, you write so honestly and boldly it is inspiring!
THIS is gold "Yet there is also something so lovely (that’s a Kenny word) about reconnecting with someone who has known you so long ago and now gets to know you again, but in such a different, yet somehow familiar way. "
I love this, Ali. I've been writing about my high school love too, which is still so fresh and intense even though forty years have passed, so I get it.
I loved this. Something about that 17 year old love <3
nothing like it ! thanks for reading :)

Somehow I'm not surprised about your life at 17. My dad also drove a stick shift Pinto.

I miss the 70's and how unencumbered we were! Some VERY similar memories 😁. Did he become a photographer?
